  2. I like this story because the author could show us all sides of publicity. On the one hand, it brings lots of money, fans and abilities but, on the other hand, it harms your private life, prescribes your behaviour and can't stay out of attention. I aprrove of Marigold's character because only she tried to change the situation in the family by her insistence, resolution and enterprise. I think people who dream to become famous should read the story and recognize not only pros but cons of it.

  4. I like the story, as here we can see a real power of publicity. There is the question: what is a common feature between two totally opposite notions: fame and poverty? So it's very hard to live either in fame and glory, or in poverty and be unsuccessful. Being a failure, you are nobody and can do nothing, and no one respects you. In this case all you need is publicity. But being famous is too hard, as publicity is a difficult work that you are to deserve and keep, but there is no way to escape from it.

Frankly speaking, fame and poverty are not opposity notions, think of it!

  5. I really like this story not only because we can see there different sides of publicity, but mostly because here we can find an example of a determined person - a woman Marigold who never does things by halves. Talking about her character Joseph Michael says that 'if she (Marigold) had set her heart on something she would get that something in the end'. So, I think that this trait or quality is very important and should be in every person. Moreover, Splash of Publicity vividly demonstrates us how unusual decisions, creative thinking and willing to succeed can help in gaining our goals in life. All in all, I think that this story is worth reading for everyone!

  6. The story is definitely worth reading.I find it good, as it’s short, but very substantial. I agree with author’s position. We can see famous people on TV, we know much about their lives and think they are rich and happy, but the truth is that we are wrong. These people are always tracked by hundreds of journalists, who disturb them and do not give a chance to live normal life. The main heroine's determination surprises me as well. They say 'He who risks nothing can gain nothing'. But I think sometimes it's better to think twice before you make your extraordinary ideas work. The consequences should be taken into account:)

  7. As for me, the story impressed me and I like it much more than a previous one. Perhaps it's because the problem of publicity seems more interesting and full of themes which are still urgent. The story begins in the traditional style - a family which suffered from a lack of money because of unprofitable husband's job, but then three problems are risen - the connection between success and publicity, peoples' neglect or even undisguised interest to another's trouble( which we see when Charles seemed to drawn) and pros and cons of publicity. I really like the ending where an author gives us two extremely different points of view about publicity - Charles pursued it while Mr. Brigadayne tried to escape from it. We don't know the further development of the situation, but I'm sure Charles, sooner or later, will remember :" It's an all wind that blows no one any good"

  8. I enjoy this story because of many reasons. The first one is a style of writing , the author tries to present the story in a friendly manner. Such stories are easy and pleasant to read. The second is a plot , it is not tightened and events are moving rapidly. The last but not the least reason is the questions that are raised in the text. M.Joseph shows us not only the different sides of publicity , but also different attitude to life.Someone can run round like a squirrel in a cage in order to achive their goals , while another one is ready to dance to smb's tune.

  11. I like this story because it seemed to me funny, on the one hand, and serious, on the other hand. I just wonder how stupied people can be to risk their own lives for the sake of publicity and fame. Although, in fact, the publicity is not worth of it. I guess M. Joseph wanted to bring to readers through this story deeper sense: people often seek after wrong values and don't see true ones, such as love, honor and others.

  12. I like the story, which I've read at home 'A Splash of Publicity', written by Michael Joseph and I've got pleasure from it.
The author wants to show us the negative and positive sides of publicity, illustrating the case occurred with Charlie with the help of his wife. It helps us to realize that publicity like flame 'burns you when it's hot'.
I'm excited to read stories like this. I found it delightful. It's written in a very interesting style. Author style is easy to follow. He puts on show a very important problem of our life - publicity makes you a happy, a rich and a famous person on the one hand, but on the other it disturbs your private life to be in the public eye day by day, from my point of view.
This is my personal opinion concerning this story. That's what I personally think.
